Highlights from del Bosque’s press conference:

This is the first call-up for Álvaro Domínguez, from Athlético del Madrid, a team that has not been included in previous call-ups.

We don’t call up players from specific clubs, we call-up players as a result of their talent.

What do you think about Iker Casillas calling his teammates from the national team (and players from FC Barcelona)?

Any gesture that helps continue the good relationships within the national team is great.

What can Martín Montoya bring to the team?

I’ve heard great things about him from his coaches and we want everyone to know that the doors are always open in the national team for anyone who comes our way.

What are your thoughts about losing the number one spot in the FIFA rankings?

It’s a fact we have to accept and we will continue trying to follow the path to success. We are not looking to find any excuses of any kind.

We’re surprised that Jesús Navas did not make the list…

I haven’t forgotten about him, nor have I forgotten about Soldado, Aduriz… Everyone should keep working, keep playing… no one should be discouraged. We always try to be good, but fair and will strive towards being cordial and having good relationships within the team.
